Woohoo! This is our first blog and we're excited to share with you the many camping, touring and 4x4 adventures we have as a family. We hope you enjoy this blog and others to follow. Please feel free to comment below. We would love to hear from you!

We recently visited Woodgate last week. Woodgate beach is located 350km North of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and is easily accessible by car via the Bruce Highway. You’ll absolutely love this place if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of day to day life. We stayed during the off-peak season and it was fairly quiet. I am sure it would be a popular place during holiday times.
There are very few shops in Woodgate and the energy is laid back and relaxing. The river inlet and ocean were a main part of our adventures and we also enjoyed some 4wding through the National Park to Burrum Point to fit in a spot of fishing. This was a great place to fly the kites to!

We had the perfect camping set-up with our OTS traveller camp kitchen that remained at our campsite for our convenience when we returned from our daily outings. Yet, while we were out and about we took our fridge and pantry (in our OTS 4wd drawer system set-up) so we were able to make lunch wherever we were. As you can see in the picture, we pulled out the free standing table part way as an excellent spot for making lunch.
We really enjoyed Woodgate. It is stress free and you can relax and unwind in a natural setting with the magical sounds of the ocean in the background. Utter bliss!

After Woodgate we headed to Bargara because we were excited to see the female turtles laying their eggs and wanted to share this experience with our kids. Bargara is a coastal town in the Bundaberg region less than an hour North of Woodgate. Bargara has a completely different feel to Woodgate. It has a few more tourist shops and local cafes, playground galore for the kids and it was much more suited to family holidays.
Only a short distance from Bundaberg, this great little hideaway is small enough to escape the hustle and bustle, yet easily caters for all your needs. Bargara has the benefit of patrolled beaches, fantastic play equipment, pubs and beautiful boutiques. The kids loved Bargara because there was so much more for them to do. Bargara is a place we definitely want to return to.

At the Mon Repos Turtle Centre you can participate in turtle encounters at night. We were excited to see a female turtle laying eggs on the beach the night we visited. The staff at Mon Repo do an amazing job. They really care for the turtles and are very informative. One fact we learned was that with every 1,000 eggs only one turtle returns to lay more eggs and continue the turtle species.
Overall, Woodgate is a great place to relax and unwind and Bargara is a wonderful place to holiday with the kids. We were really pleased with our OTS camp kitchen and 4wd drawer system set-up and how convenient it was during our adventures. In fact, we are going to head back to Bargara to see the baby turtles hatching around the end of January or early February.
We look forward to sharing our next adventure with you!
