Well, we managed to sneak away again; it felt like ages since our last getaway. This time was very much needed after moving our place of business as well as our place of dwelling. A friend recently told me that moving house has been proven to be one of the most stressful things to have to do in life, and I must say, I have to agree.
We planned to go on this trip in December, and as the universe always provides, we planned it perfectly with our move.
Our place of destination was Moonee Beach, about 10 minutes north of Coffs Harbour. Apart from the Sand Flies at Sunset, it was a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday.
The holiday park itself was very well maintained with friendly staff, tennis courts and only a stroll down the hill to the river inlet. The ocean itself was about 150m walk along sand flats at low tide to access it, though many surfers waded through the gutter to enjoy it. Emerald Beach was a nice surf beach to take the kids with their boards. Kayaks were a plenty at Moonee Beach also, with the river, abundant of fish to explore. Fishing was a great way to spend the afternoon with the kids.
Moonee Beach Holiday Park is dog friendly and caters well for families.
The town itself is small, though has a marketplace with a Coles, for groceries, and a tavern too, with great activities for the kids!
A short drive to Sapphire Beach is well worth it. We found amongst a new house development an AWESOME park for the kids (the big kids too) and a funky little café that is right in the sand dunes to the crystal clear Sapphire Beach.
We took a day trip out to Dorrigo while we were there. Dorrigo is located about 1hr South West of Coffs. Dorrigo is home of world heritage listed rainforests and absolutely breath taking views. We took the kids for a short walk to Crystal Shower Falls and as you can see in the photos, took our breath away!

On our way back home, we took the scenic root through Lismore, Nimbin and Tweed River regions, there is just so much to explore and we look forward to our next adventures!
